Quote To Contemplate
“Because you are alive, everything is possible.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh, Living Buddha, Living Christ
Person That Touched Me
I hope you know someone like this. Today I met someone I used to work with. We have not seen each other for perhaps ten years. She has just retired. She is someone who, by almost any measure, has seen more than her fair share of suffering and pain. Yet despite all of that, there is not one moment of bitterness in her. We met, we hugged, we talked. Her eyes were deep deep oceans of just loving. They are the eyes that say…”I am here for you, what do you need”. I hope you have someone like that you know.
This Sunday’s Contemplation
Hello Fello Wisdom Walkers. I find in my own life that every now and then it is poetry that touches me the most. I love to read books and Substack posts of all kinds, but sometimes it is a poem that my heart cries out for.
Therefore…today I would like to share a poem I wrote. Where spider web meets eternity. Something a little different than Wisdom Economics right! 🤔
I hope you all have a wonderful week.
Rest Here
Rest here A moment Rest here From the heart of silence Emptiness Space less Time less A gossamer thread appears Unseen Unheard The explosions of the Sun Flaring its fingers of fire for millions of miles Endlessly, catastrophically Meets this unseen thread Across space, time and emptiness As a gentle glistening in a morning dew The creator of the thread Unseen, unheard, unknown Tiptoed in the night Beckoned the sun and the dew To reveal the morning joining Rest here A moment Rest here There is a whisper in the thread Almost imperceptible Listen Calling us to the heart from whence it appeared It is sacred This thread of life that we are The Whisperer beckoned a power beyond our imagination To alight Gently In a moment To celebrate our arrival And reveal us to the morning Rest here A moment eternal Rest here
Thank you for reading this. See you next week I hope.
I wish you peace.
These contemplations are my perspective and offered with love to inspire, cause you to ponder, perhaps challenge you, and most of all to seek your responses and wisdom. Please feel free to comment and we can build a thread of combined wisdom greater than the parts.
Grateful For
I include this section because I found that when I read or hear about what others are grateful for, I tend to think more about what I am grateful for. Feel free to share what you are grateful for in the comments. I think it is a beautiful service to others.
Today I grateful for nature. Twenty metres from me here I am looking at a kangaroo grazing. There are about five ducks grazing with him. (I checked it is a him 🙂) Nature almost always causes me to pause. Almost always asks me to take a breath and just marvel. I am grateful that nature is so so consistent.
Community Connection This Week
The theme in the chat this week is:
This week’s poem calls for us to rest a moment and consider the miracle of life that we are.
I find that what helps me to rest in that kind of moment is a good coffee and something beautiful to gaze upon. The coffee makes me sit, and the beauty makes me rest…usually in awe.
If you have a moment to share what is the best thing for you that brings you to that place of rest, I would really appreciate you sharing it.
Thank you.
The community chat each week will be on the theme of each week’s Sunday Contemplation. Again, please join in. It is open to all free and paid subscribers and awaits your wisdom. Please always engage with respect. As if by magic if we do that we will build an engaged and respectful community.
Upcoming
My friend Sally Avison and I will be hosting another Wise Hearts Circle zoom meeting on Sunday October 27th (Aussie & NZ time) which is for most northern hemisphere folks is Saturday October 26th.
Sally has described the essence of this circle as bringing together four elements of the wise heart: Connection, Collaboration, Creativity and Compassion. We are looking to create a strong heartfelt community for those seeking some companions on the path to spiritual freedom.
If you would like to attend any Wise Hearts Circle zoom meetings please just let us know on this Expression Of Interest form, and we will let you know when they are happening and give you more details. (We promise we will only use your email address to inform you of future meetings…nothing else).
Thank you, Ian. Every morning, I sat on my couch drinking my coffee and watching nature through my french windows, the rose bush outside my balcony and my fellow sparrows flying around, we call them our tenants for they live under our roof and in our chimney. When I’m in Mexico, I love watching the pelicans fishing in the Caribbean Sea. I am always in awe to the magic of life and nature, so happy to be part of it. Lots of love.
Oh Ian, I do love a good poem! Thank you.....for me, it is important to find these 'rest here a moment' times everyday. It's a way of embracing life's richness and being mindful of the deeper, often unnoticed, magic in everyday life.
Yesterday I found myself sitting in silence, surrounded by people I care deeply about... feeling the energy and love around me...beautiful!
